Let's Discuss our top 10 favorite albums...I think it'll be hard to narrow it down to 10, but here's what I got so far ((though they're not in the exact order))
1. For Never & Ever - KH 2. Sing The Sorrow-AFI 3. Letters-Butch Walker 4. Almost Here-The Academy Is... 5. Dookie-Green Day ( i don't listen to it much now, but it was the biggest cd in shaping my musical taste) 6. Tragic Kingdom-No Doubt (similar reasoning as dookie) 7. Little Earthquakes-Tori Amos 8. Lifted or The Story....-Bright Eyes 9. Once More With Feeling-Placebo 10. Best Of Vol. 1-Silverchair
Discuss my list and post your own.

ok, the first five are albums that had a real impact on me and forever belong in the top 10 category, the next five are just albums that always seem to find they're way back into rotation in my cd player, and may or may not be replaced by other albums for a top 10 spot in the coming years:
1. smashing pumpkins - siamese dream (don't listen to it much, if at all these days, but was the album that really got me into music) 2. remy zero - villa elaine (i still break this album out quite a bit, this one really shaped my outlook on life and reminds me of good times and good people) 3. radiohead - kid a (this album got me really excited about music again) 3. bright eyes - fevers and mirrors (the first bright eyes album i owned, turned me on to a lot more acoustic music) 5. sigur ros - agaetis byrjun (the first album that ever really moved me based purely on the music, before this i never understood how people could listen to music when the lyrics weren't even in a launguage they spoke, now i like quite a few bands that don't sing in english) 6. the dresden dolls - self titled 7. our lady peace - clumsy 8. snow patrol - final straw 9. bjork - post 10. fiona apple - when the pawn...

In no particular order:
Zeromancer-Eurotrash (they haven't managed to top this one yet) Covenant- Northern Lights (everytime I listen to this I'm amazed) Kill Hannah- For Never and Ever (I'd have sex with this album) AFI- Art of Drowning (I don't really have much to say about this one) The Birthday Massacre- Violet (I listen to this allllll the time) Mustard Plug- Evildoers Beware! (this is pretty out of place on this list, but MP really got me into ska) Christian Death- Only Theatre of Pain (the lyrics really do it for me on this one) KMFDM- WWIII (awesome. seriously)
meh, is that ten yet?

1. smashing pumpkins - siamese dream (don't listen to it much, if at all these days, but was the album that really got me into music) That is pretty much what Dookie was to me. I never really listened to siamese dream much, but I listened to Melloncollie & The infinate sadness a ton. The Dresden Dolls, but I haven't been listening to them very long and narrowing down to 10 meant they were given the boot from my list, but they would def. be in the top 15 or 20. I've never listened to "When The Pawn..." but I liked Tidal. Love both of those. Relooking at my list I think it makes me seem like some dork that listens to some pretty mellow stuff, like "light rock" or something LOL. I bet if Katie sees it she'll make fun of me OH FUCK. I know what cd really should've been in there that I missed, the Rancid album ...And out came the wolves. LOVE that cd (and I really liked the newer one, --is it selftitled? the one with fall back down and Red Hot Moon--though so many people talked shit about it....) Ok, i'll stop rambling now. Sorry I'm bored....and talking about music is fun

OH FUCK. I know what cd really should've been in there that I missed, the Rancid album ...And out came the wolves. LOVE that cd (and I really liked the newer one, --is it selftitled? the one with fall back down and Red Hot Moon--though so many people talked shit about it....) INDESTRUCTIBLE! my grandma bought it for me the day it came out since she knew i loved rancid then. i love this cd because of the music and that my grandma went out and bought it for me cause she knew it would make me happy even if i live across the country. it will honestly take me days to compile a list. but an album that really has influenced me alot would probably be I'm Wide Awake It's Morning by bright eyes. before i bought and listened to that cd, i would listen to bands to try and prove things to other people. i've always been a unconventional hopeless romantic and simplistic but tried to hide it and fake it for years since it wasn't cool and i wanted to impress everyone. and listening to that cd made me realize i jsut needed to give up and be who i am. i get alot of shit from it still since i'm pretty simple minded and pathetic and do what i feel i want and alot of time act on heart and emotion, but its so much eaiser then faking it, and if it wasn't for conor's real, raw lyrics, i would've never learned i can be who i am and that i dont have to impress everyone, not even myself.

ok, 10 is really hard to narrow it down to, and as soon as i post this i'll probably want to change things, but this is what i came up with so far:
10. Tiger Army - II: Power of Moonlite ( i don't need to say more than in the orchard, but i will... excellent songs with excellent guest musicians) 9. The Cure - Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me (how beautiful you are is one of my favorite songs of all time) 8. The Distillers - Coral Fang (love...love...love) 7. Breaking Benjamin - Saturate ( i really don't listen to a lot of heavy music because most of it sounds the same:bad, but this is really good...the music isn't all that special, but ben's voice is incredible...there newer albums are good too, but not like this one) 6. Tool - Aenima (H. is why I chose this album over Lateralus, I could listen to it all day long) 5. 3 Doors Down - The Better Life (haha, i bet i'll get shit for this, but i loved it when it came out, and i still do...they were like my first "favorite band", so it has to be on here) 4. Weezer - Weezer (the blue album) (this came out when i was 6 years old and i listened to it with my older brother all the time, and it's what got me into rock music...plus it's good) 3. Placebo - Once More with Feeling ( i couldn't decide between this and Sleeping with Ghosts, but this has a better version of English Summer Rain on it, plus Protege Moi) 2. Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American (pure excellence) 1. A.F.I. - Sing the Sorrow (just so much better than anything they had previously done...i could put decemberunderground on here, but it's too new to be in the top 10)

psh. ali and I are twinsies with two of our albums =) though we are opposites with most the rest, cause I don't like Tool, Breaking Benjamin, Weezer, 3 Doors Down or Jimmy Eat World. Coral fang is a really cool album (what I've heard of it)....

hate is such a strong word... I only hate like two of the bands on your list and Dislike the rest I was kind of surprised at myself for putting silverchair when I did it, but I guess when I was younger I was way more into them, but now I'm not so much, but it still got mentioned..probably cause I have a hard time putting really new cd's on an all time top 10 list (though I know the placebo cd mentioned is really new, but since it's a greatest hits it doesn't count as "new" cause it's old music ) and looking at my list, the academy is... cd is the newest on my list and other than the placebo one, the rest all came out like in 2003 or before, I think.

yeah, putting newer albums in top 10's makes me feel guilty, but oh well.... at least we agree that Coral Fang is wonderful

Yes, it's nice we can agree on The distillers, Afi and Kill hannah...and since musically speaking only afi and kill hannah count, that's all that really matters I feel like putting some "honorable mention" cd's: These ones are newer, but are still quite deserving of a list -- Dresden Dolls- s/t , June-If You Speak Any Faster, The Honorary Title-Anything Else But The Truth, Panic!-A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, MCR-3 Cheers 4 Sweet Revenge, HIM-Razorblade Romance ...and here are some older cd's that deserve listing, but just didn't quite crack the top 10 American Jet Set, Orgy-Candyass, NIN-The Downward Spiral & Pretty Hate Machine, Hole-Celebrity Skin, Tori Amos-Under The Pink So now instead of a top ten list, it's like a top 22 hehe. I'm such a cheater.

Hot damn, Inkubus Sukkubus do the most BADASS cover of Paint it Black. Marina and I had sex while listening to it yesterday. It's so hot.
I don't know why I put this in this thread. I'm may need to start an "Irene's random thoughts about music and other things that don't fit in any other threads" thread.
